(eap) The Swedish amusement park Gröna Lund recently submitted building permit applications for a park extension to be built on the adjacent parking lot. The site was home to the Stockholm Exhibition in 1897 and the former Nöjesfältet amusement park. Gröna Lund draws inspiration for the architecture and theming of the new planned area from the history of the site.

“The new area will be inspired by past times, in particular the Stockholm Exhibition, which took place at the same location in 1897. The historical reference will characterize the architecture, but we also want to focus on the positive spirit and ingenuity that shaped the era. Our vision is for the area to become a magical environment of experiences, entertainment and dining. We want to create a place where all guests can look into the future with joy and confidence, something we need now more than ever,” says Christer Fogelmarck, CEO of Parks and Resorts Scandinavia, the operating group behind Gröna Lund. ■
