(eap) After the project stakeholder had submitted the building application for the municipal indoor sports pool facility in Germany’s city of Bad Vilbel (near Frankfurt am Main) last September as part of the planned thermal spa development by Therme Group, excavation works to prepare the site for the pool construction are set to commence on Monday. The indoor sports pool was separated from the overall thermal spa project as an independent sub-project in order to accelerate construction progress. The civil engineering works are also intended to establish the infrastructural and logistical foundations required for the subsequent stages of development on site. Once the building permit for the thermal spa project has been granted – expected for later this spring – the next implementation steps will be initiated.

Bringing forward the construction of the indoor sports pool represents an important step for the municipality, as Bad Vilbel currently lacks an indoor facility for school and club swimming lessons. Since the demolition of the former indoor pool in 2019, only an outdoor pool has remained in operation locally. At the end of last year, the globally operating Therme Group announced to take over the entire portfolio of the Josef Wund Group. ■
