Therme Group Wins Tender for Therme in Singapore
(eap) Therme Group, whose portfolio includes Therme Bucharest, opened in 2016, and – following its acquisition last year – also Therme Erding, will bring its concept of a modern thermal and health destination (keyword: “next-gen wellbeing”) to Singapore.
The group has won a tender by the Singapore Tourism Board for the development of an approximately four-hectare site directly on the Marina South Coast – a milestone for the project, which is valued at an investment volume of one billion Singapore dollars (approx. 666 million euros). The planned facility, which is planned to be developed over the coming years and is expected to welcome around two million visitors annually once operational, will be one of the group’s first destinations on the Asian continent. In addition to numerous other projects worldwide, a destination in South Korea is currently in the planning phase (cf. EAP news, 6 Oct 2025).
“Therme Group is pioneering the future of wellbeing at scale globally. Our winning proposal for the Marina South Coastal site is an honour and a reflection of our shared vision for how cities can integrate wellbeing into everyday life. In Singapore, we are creating a destination for residents and visitors alike – a place where wellness, culture and nature come together. Backed by decades of science and innovation, Therme Singapore will be a state-of-the-art facility that transforms urban life by making holistic health enjoyable and accessible to all,” states Dr Robert Hanea, founder and CEO of Therme Group.
Therme ARC, the in-house architecture and design studio of Therme Group, will plan the Singapore site in partnership with DP Architects. The building’s architecture is intended to reflect its proximity to the sea, while – in line with other Therme Group projects – the development will focus on the integration of water and nature, sustainability and design, as well as arts and culture. In addition to leisure and wellness offerings, health treatments based on state-of-the-art technologies are also planned, according to the group.
Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive, Experience Development Group, Singapore Tourism Board, concludes: “We are pleased to award this landmark wellness attraction tender to Therme Group Singapore. Our vision is to establish Singapore as a leading urban wellness haven through a world-class facility that offers transformative wellness experiences for visitors and locals alike. Their approach to wellness – encompassing physical, mental and emotional wellbeing – aligns well with our focus areas. In line with our pursuit of quality tourism, this attraction will draw travellers seeking wellness experiences, potentially increasing length of stay and spend, whilst providing locals with best-in-class wellness experiences.” ■
