Immersium:Vienna Presents “World of Mysteries"
(eap) A new experience program has launched this week at Immersium:Vienna: “World of Mysteries – The Immersive Experience” takes family audiences on a journey to some of the most fascinating unsolved enigmas of our world. Covering 1,100 square meters across several levels, visitors can expect an approximately 60-minute experience combining projection technology, light, sound and physical sets to immerse them in ancient sites as well as their myths and theories.

The tour begins with interactive riddles and puzzles that must be solved in order to open a portal to ancient knowledge and mysteries. This is followed by a “Kaleidoscope of Cultures”, where visitors learn more about constellations, ancient signs and symbols – encountering motifs such as the Anunnaki emblem, the Winged Sun Disk and the Nazca Spiral.
Guests then transition to the “Center of Mysteries”: across the globe there are sites whose origins raise questions. A digital “Global Mysteries Network” highlights possible connections and parallels in architecture, astronomy and mythology across continents – from Stonehenge and Machu Picchu to Chichén Itzá and Puma Punku.
Another station is dedicated to the necropolis of ancient Memphis: in an immersive setting supported by digital technologies, guests descend into a realm of symbols and shadows, exploring tombs, shafts and a labyrinth of subterranean structures. Exhibits such as the enigmatic Dendera Light and the mysterious Sabu Disk of ancient Egyptian high culture invite amazement. The film “Best of Egypt” conveys the magic of this historically significant civilization.

In the room titled “Codes of Eternity”, interactive hieroglyphs and mysterious cave paintings await deciphering, and ancient star maps can also be explored before the highlight of the experience follows: a 360-degree show room in which impressive monuments of the world are brought to life in a visually powerful presentation. Another attraction, entitled “To Atlantis in 5D”, offers a motion-based experience dedicated to the city of Atlantis, which – according to Plato – is said to have sunk in a single night…
Those wishing to embark on a virtual journey of discovery at the end of the tour can, for an additional fee, dive into the realm of the Maya in the VR ride “Kukulcan VR Flight” and get particularly close to ancient wonders of the world.

“With WORLD OF MYSTERIES, we are creating a world in which the unknown becomes tangible,” said Markus Beyr, CEO of the Attraktion! Group of Companies and Immersium:Vienna, which made its debut in autumn 2023 with the “Jurrassic” exhibition (cf. our cover story in EAP 1/2024) and has since hosted further programs such as “Planet of Animals”. Media- and simulation-based attraction types such as “Playoke” or “Playneo” are always an integral part of the immersive worlds, which, with their mix of entertainment and informative content, represent an example of contemporary edutainment. ■
