The “Halloween Horror Festival 2026” at Movie Park Germany

(eap) While the summer season is still in full swing, theme parks are already turning their attention to the events and experiences planned for this year’s Halloween season. For its “Halloween Horror Festival 2026”, Parques Reunidos-operated Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, North Rhine-Westphalia, is planning more than 300 scare actors, nine horror houses, four scare zones as well as numerous entertainment and scare experiences. The 28^th edition of the Halloween Horror Festival will take place on a total of 22 event days from September 26 to November 8, 2026.

The 28th edition of the Halloween Horror Festival 2026 at Movie Park Germany begins on September 26. // Photo: Courtesy of Movie Park Germany © Movie Park Germany 2026 New to this year’s line-up is the “Jason Universe” horror house, where “Jason Voorhees”, the killer known from the US horror film series “Friday the 13^th”, will be terrorizing guests and taking them on an ominous journey through his dark cinematic universe. Across a total of 14 scenes and a preshow, the maze will feature elements inspired by parts two to six of the horror franchise. The attraction is being developed in cooperation with Horror Inc., the company behind the “Friday the 13^th” franchise and the Jason Universe IP. “The result is a highly detailed horror attraction offering guests numerous references to the legacy of the cult character and bringing this year’s Halloween motto ‘Legends Never Die’ to life in a special way,” explains Movie Park Halloween Project Manager Manuel Prossotowicz.

For the new horror maze, Movie Park’s creative team is working closely with Leisure Expert Group, which has already been involved in previous Halloween events at the park and is responsible for the theming and design this time. Construction is being handled by the Dutch company Props & Zo. The new horror house will replace its predecessor “Secrets of St. Elmo – Last Hunt”, which has been in operation since 2020, and will be open to guests aged 16 and over.

PHOBIA - The Live Horror Game Show © Movie Park Germany 2026 With “PHOBIA – The Live Horror Game Show”, Movie Park is also adding a new show format to this year’s horror line-up in “Studio 7”, with guests becoming part of the experience themselves. A combination of live entertainment, spectacular show acts and interactive challenges designed to push participants to their limits is intended to provide plenty of entertainment. The show is conceived and produced by Farla Showproductions.

Existing horror houses are also being updated. The “Ahoj-Brause Horror Lab”, which debuted last year, will receive additional scare scenes and an adapted storyline centred around taste testing and a test laboratory. For the theming of the revamped horror house, the park is working with Kabuki. The true-crime horror house “Murder Museum” will also receive an additional scene and be expanded with a pathology room.

For families with children, the popular “Halloween for Kids” will return as usual. A dedicated area in the “Nickelodeon Land” will offer craft activities and games for the youngest Halloween fans.

Admission to the Halloween Horror Festival, including the four scare zones, is included in the regular park ticket. Separate timed-entry tickets are required for the horror houses and can only be booked online in addition to park admission. Due to limited ticket availability on event days and generally high demand during the Halloween season, Movie Park recommends that guests plan their visit well in advance and book their tickets accordingly. ■
