Indoor Entertainment at New Nickelodeon Play! Tersane Istanbul

(eap) The all-new Nickelodeon Play! Tersane Istanbul indoor park has been welcoming visitors on the northern coast of the Golden Horn for a short time now. Across approximately 5,000 square meters, an indoor experience world unfolds around well-known Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol, Dora and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The offer comprises various flat rides and play areas. Highlight attractions include the flying theatre “Nickelodeon Journeys”, the dark ride “SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride”, and the interactive observation tower “Jellyfish Jump”.

The latter was specifically designed for the indoor park by the Swiss company RES RIDES in cooperation with Paramount to integrate seamlessly into the indoor facility. The family attraction has a capacity of 768 guests per hour and is also accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.
“The Jellyfish Jump ride was a truly unique installation for us, as we completely re‑engineered our Interactive Observation Tower to realize Paramount’s creative vision,” explains Roman Rothe, CEO of RES RIDES. “One of the key challenges was integrating the attraction into the lower level of the venue, which required us to reduce the ride’s height and manufacture it in modular components to fit within the building. The result is a beautiful, innovative ride that we are proud of and thrilled to deliver.”

In SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride from Sally Dark Rides and ETF Ride Systems (with interactive devices from Alterface), guests join SpongeBob, Patrick and other characters on Mr Krabs’ crazy carnival, where they face interactive challenges and can collect points. This is now the third installation of this compact dark ride concept. The attraction celebrated its premiere at Circus Circus Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas (see our cover story in EAP 2/2024). Another version was installed at the Turkish leisure resort The Land of Legends in Antalya (cf. EAP News 8.5.2025).
“This attraction hits the sweet spot for operators,” says John Wood, President and Chairman of Sally Dark Rides. He points out: “It delivers the storytelling and interactivity guests expect from a major theme park experience in a format that works perfectly indoors.”
The offering is complemented by food and beverage outlets such as “Goofy Goober’s” or “Mr Porter’s Café”, as well as merchandise items themed around the popular Nickelodeon characters. ■
