(eap) “Karls schönste Weihnachtszeit” (Karls’ Most Wonderful Christmas Season) has officially begun today at Germany’s Karls Erlebnis-Dörfer. Through 2 January, visitors can look forward to festively decorated parks featuring winter treats, Christmas activities and ice skating rinks. Just in time for the start of the winter season, a new attraction has also opened at Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen: the “EIS(EN)BAHN-DEPOT”.

The new ice-skating facility combines nostalgic tram charm with winter skating fun. In addition to a traditional ice rink, the skating route takes visitors through two former trams from Rostock. During the summer months, the hall is set to be transformed into a “Bumper Car Barn”, where guests will be able to ride across the floor in large inflatable tubes, similar to bumper cars.
Further winter highlights include the “Karls Eiswelten” (Karls Ice Worlds) in Rövershagen and Elstal, where visitors can admire intricately carved ice sculptures. All eight Karls parks will also open their Christmas bakeries, inviting guests to bake cookies together. On selected days, Santa Claus will stop by, while younger visitors can drop off their wish lists at the Christmas post office. Alongside numerous gift ideas available in the manufactory markets, seasonal specialities such as strawberry mulled wine, crêpe spaghetti and duck served with red cabbage and potato dumplings will offer a variety of culinary delights.

On 3 January, the Christmas season will seamlessly transition into “Erdbeer-Winter” (Strawberry Winter). The Christmas decorations will make way for a new winter look featuring sparkling strawberries. The ice-skating rinks will remain open and host a “Silent Disco on Ice” every Saturday, allowing visitors to skate to music through wireless headphones. ■
