Korea: Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Tourist Destination Resorts World Jeju

In mid-February, Landing Jeju International Development Co., Ltd. (LJDC), a joint venture of Genting Singapore PLC and Landing International Development Limited, celebrated the groundbreaking of Resorts World™ Jeju in South Korea. Resorts World Jeju will be built on a total area of 2.5 million square meters and be one of South Korea’s largest integrated resorts. A family theme park featuring more than 20 rides and attractions in seven different zones, an adventure waterpark, a themed retail and food complex as well as premium hotels with more than 2,000 rooms will be home to the resort. About 6.500 direct and 25.000 indirect jobs will be created through the resort. Scheduled to open progressively from 2017, the entire development is expected to be completed by 2019. The total investment for Resorts World Jeju is cited at approximately 1.9 trillion KRW (approx. 1.8 billion US dollars). (eap)
