LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort to Open on 5 July 2025

(eap) Merlin Entertainments has officially announced 5 July 2025 as the opening date of the LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort. According to Merlin, the new leisure destination in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, will be the world’s largest LEGOLAND park at the time of its opening. Featuring more than 75 interactive rides, shows and attractions, and incorporating some 85 million LEGO® bricks, the new park aims to appeal primarily to families with children aged two to twelve.

Among the resort’s core offerings are eight themed areas, with “Miniland” – as in other Legoland parks – forming the heart of the site. Here, iconic buildings and landscapes from across China are recreated as LEGO constructions. Miniland in Legoland Shanghai will be divided into three sections: an indoor area, an outdoor zone, and a “High Tower” area. The miniature worlds, constructed from over 45 tonnes of LEGO bricks, combine lighting and sound effects with interactive elements.

Particular emphasis is placed on visitor entertainment: guests can look forward to 22 daily character meet-and-greets, eleven live shows and a 4D cinema. A highlight will be the premiere of the world’s first “LEGO Monkie Kid Live Show”, featuring a 3.7-metre-tall “Demon Bull King” puppet animated by a team of puppeteers.

The adjacent LEGOLAND Hotel offers 250 themed rooms across five different LEGO worlds – including, for the first time, “LEGO Monkie Kid™ Rooms”. The hotel lobby features a 3.7-metre-wide wall displaying over 4,500 individually designed LEGO minifigures.

Ahead of the grand opening, the operator is offering limited “First-to-Play” annual passes and “First-to-Stay” hotel packages, which grant access to exclusive preview days. The resort is easily accessible via the nearby Jinshan North high-speed railway station, with a travel time of just under 20 minutes from central Shanghai. ■
