MSC Cruises Announces New Private Island “Sandy Cay”

“Sandy Cay” – a new MSC private island in the Bahamas.

(eap) The Swiss cruise company MSC Cruises has announced the development of another private island in the Bahamas with “Sandy Cay”. The exclusive destination, which is being specifically designed for guests of MSC Cruises as well as the luxury division Explora Journeys, is intended to offer a calm and luxurious island experience in the western Bahamas, around 100 kilometres east of the Florida coast.

Sandy Cay will be located in close proximity to the already existing private island Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and, as a complement to it, will place a stronger focus on seclusion, a connection to nature and the typical character of the Bahamas. The fine aragonite sand is a defining feature of the island’s appearance, giving it its name and intended to emphasize an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The opening of Sandy Cay is scheduled for 2028.

At the same time, expansions for Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve have recently also been announced. These include additional dining offerings, redesigned beach areas, expanded relaxation zones as well as new experiences centered around marine and environmental conservation. ■
