(eap) AI-powered robot dogs and humanoid robots are set to appear this year on selected ships of the Swiss cruise line MSC Cruises. These and other entertainment highlights were recently presented by the Geneva-based company.

“MSC Cruises is consistently looking to the future and investing specifically in the development of modern, digital and immersive entertainment formats. From robotics and innovative game shows to interactive experiences and collaborations with renowned brands, proprietary mascots and musical highlights – this year’s offering on board MSC Cruises is spectacular,” emphasizes Matteo Mancini, Family Entertainment Development Director at MSC Cruises.

MSC Cruises itself describes the AI-powered robots as a novelty for the cruise industry. The robots developed by the Chinese company Unitree Robotics are already being tested on board the “MSC Bellissima” and are also expected to appear during a segment of the “World Cruise 2026” on the “MSC Magnifica”. Guests can look forward to meet & greets with the robots, a robot parade, interactive robotics workshops for children aged seven and above, as well as dance appearances as part of the “Doremix Family Disco”.

In addition, MSC announced new shows and events, while well-known guest formats across the fleet are set to return in a revised form. These include two new original productions: the music game show “Chart Toppers” and the quiz competition “Quiz O’Clock: The Battle”. Following a successful pilot project, the “Professional Coaches” programme is also set to be expanded to 15 ships. This includes various activities in the areas of sports, wellness as well as arts and creativity and is intended to offer guests additional opportunities to stay active and try something new.

The “LEGO® Parade”, featuring seven Lego mascots including MSC’s own mascot “Doremi”, is also set to be expanded to a total of 14 ships in 2026 – so far, the show has been available on seven ships. Following a successful opening project on the “MSC World America”, the “LEGO® Family Game Show” is also set to be introduced fleet wide. In addition, the “Ocean Day” by the MSC Foundation will roll out a new edutainment programme for young guests on all ships, focusing on playful learning and interactive knowledge transfer. ■
