Malaysia: Genting SkyWorlds Starts into Soft-Opening – New Outdoor Park Welcomes First Visitors

From today, 8 February, the new outdoor theme park Genting SkyWorlds welcomes its first visitors, officially kicking off its soft opening phase. Covering an area of over ten hectares (26 acres), nine different themed areas with a total of 26 attractions are waiting to be discovered, tried out and experienced by guests. This means that the Genting Highlands Resort, which is located about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur and also includes an indoor theme park, several hotels, a casino, restaurants and bars, among other things, now after almost ten years after the closure of the Genting Outdoor Theme Park in 2013 also features an outdoor theme park again, partly with self-developed storylines and worlds of experience, as well as with themed areas based on well-known IPs from the portfolio of the US film production company 20th Century Studios, which incidentally has been part of The Walt Disney Company since 2019. Also, in its initial planning phase, the park was named Twentieth Century Fox World, but was eventually renamed to Genting SkyWorlds, cf. EAP News of 21 March 2014.
The visitor offer includes attractions and experiences for the whole family: In addition to a Synergy Coaster and a Flying Theater (both from Dynamic Attractions), there are also (major) rides from Europe, e.g. a large Flume Ride installation with 14 boats for an approximately six-minute water ride adventure from the Swiss manufacturer abc Rides, which also supplied a Zeppelin Round Ride for a smooth family experience in the new park. The new park, like the entire resort, is operated by Resorts World Genting.
