Momentum Leisure Receives Building Permit for Fourth Theme Park in Poland

(eap) The Amsterdam-based company Momentum Leisure, which focuses on the development and operation of leisure facilities in Eastern Europe – particularly in Poland – has received the building permit for its planned new park in Gliwice (Upper Silesia). Construction on the site, acquired in April 2024 and located next to the Europa Centralna shopping centre, is expected to start later this year. In cooperation with the shopping centre’s operator, Mitiska REIM, a diverse retail and leisure offering is to be created.

Momentum Leisure already operates three leisure parks in Poland, all thematically based on IPs from Studio 100 (including “Maya the Bee”): the Majaland parks in Kownaty (opened in 2018), Warsaw (2022) and Gdańsk (2024). In addition, “The Smurfs” (licensed by PEYO Company) and characters from the Nickelodeon universe (Paramount) are featured. In Gliwice, Nickelodeon brands such as “PAW Patrol” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” as well as “The Smurfs” are planned to be introduced first.

The estimated investment for the new park, which is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2027 following the recently granted construction permit, amounts to more than 50 million euros. The catchment area, based on a travel time of up to one and a half hours, includes around seven million potential guests.

Momentum Leisure CEO Wouter Dekkers commented: “This milestone sets the stage for an exciting new chapter. With this new development in Gliwice we create a solid footprint in all major areas in Poland.”
