Netherlands: New Family Theme Park Opens Its Gates
(eap) The soft opening of the new Avonturenpark de Tovertuin in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands, is imminent: while the new theme park centred around the two popular dog characters “Woezel” and “Pip” from the beloved cartoon series begins its test operation tomorrow. First visitors will officially be welcomed from Friday, 27 March. A grand opening celebration will also take place in early May to mark the new leisure destination with adjoining family resort in an appropriate setting.
The new theme park, operated by the Dutch media company Van Hoorne Studios, aims to appeal particularly to families with children up to the age of ten with its more than 25 attractions. The offering extends across both an indoor area and outdoor spaces, featuring, among other things, a boat ride, a dark ride, shows and parades as well as a wide range of play opportunities. The manufacturers and partners with whom Van Hoorne Studios collaborated in the realisation of this major project include Themics, Petro Art Production, abc Rides and ETF Ride Systems (see also the project announcement in EAP 6/2025).
Guests can combine their visit to the theme park with overnight stays at the adjoining Familie Resort de Tovertuin, which consists of several – also themed – holiday homes. In addition, Woezel, Pip and their friends can also be found in the three associated park restaurants.
Find out everything about the new leisure resort in the upcoming May/June issue of EAP trade magazine. ■
