(eap) The U.S. theme park SeaWorld San Antonio opened its newest attraction last weekend, just in time for the regional Spring Break holidays. After the Texas amusement park expanded its offering for younger visitors with the “SeaWorld Rescue Jr.” themed area last year, the park is once again focusing on an experience for the entire family.

With “Barracuda Strike”, an Inverted Family Coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) has now gone into operation. The new roller coaster is aimed at families with older children looking for some thrills. Compared to the Zierer Force Coaster “Beach Rescue Racer”, which opened in 2025, the ride promises a more intense experience; the minimum height requirement to take a ride is 42 inches (approx. 107 centimeters).

The Suspended Coaster features a lift hill of 90 feet (around 27 meters), from which the roller coaster train enters the first drop, passing among other things the park’s water-ski lake. Along the 1,800 feet (nearly 550 meter) long track, the train navigates several tight curves and reaches a top speed of up to 44 miles per hour (approx. 70 kilometers per hour). The ride experience is intended to convey a “flying sensation”, inspired by the fast and agile movements of the predatory fish that gives the attraction its name. ■
