(eap) In the Polish port city of Gdańsk, more specifically on the river island of Ołowianka east of the city centre, the new AmberSky Ferris wheel has commenced operations. The 60-metre-high tourist attraction replaces the previous 50-metre version, which was dismantled last summer and sold to Texas in the United States. In 30 gondolas, each accommodating up to twelve people, visitors can once again enjoy panoramic views of the city of Gdańsk, with the overall experience having been fundamentally modernised.

The individual cabins are air-conditioned and equipped with a screen to inform passengers about the surrounding sights and the history of Gdańsk. A supplementary audio guide is available in several languages. The operating speed of the new Ferris wheel, realised by Dutch manufacturer Dutch Wheels, reaches up to 1.8 m/s, allowing passengers to enjoy the views and take photos at leisure. Covered waiting areas have been created around the attraction, and ticketing has also been digitalised. ■
