New Laser Projector for Immersive Environments
(eap) At the most recent edition of the international Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade show held in Barcelona, the globally operating electronics corporation Panasonic presented a new laser projector specifically developed for immersive and experience-oriented environments. A special feature of the 20,000-lumen 4K RGB projector is said to be its 1-chip DLP technology, which supports the Rec. 2020 color space and thus achieves a level of color accuracy that previously had only been attainable with more complex 3-chip DLP projectors.
The projector, designated “PT-HTQ20”, is the first 1-chip DLP projector in the company’s product portfolio to support the Rec. 2020 color space – the international standard for Ultra HD video. By combining wide color gamut reproduction with high brightness, the projector reportedly achieves a display quality particularly suited to immersive environments. With conventional 1-chip DLP projectors, high brightness typically comes at the expense of color performance.
The proprietary “Vivid Prime™” RGB laser light source technology powering the projector is said to further enhance image quality by effectively reducing so-called “rainbow effects” – a potential source of distraction in immersive settings – through high-speed color switching. Thanks to the more compact design of 1-chip DLP technology compared to 3-chip projectors, investors and operators of media-based attractions are therefore expected to benefit from a more cost-effective alternative without significant performance-limiting compromises. The solution is scheduled to become available on the market from the fourth quarter of this year.
ISE, which took place from February 3 to 6, 2026 across all eight halls of the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, serves as a platform for technology innovations of all kinds. Of particular interest to stakeholders in the leisure industry are AV solutions that offer development potential for enhancing the quality of experience attractions. Exhibitors at ISE also included companies such as Christie, Barco, Powersoft, L-Acoustics, Meyer Sound, Ricoh, and Vioso, which, like Panasonic, regularly realize projects in the leisure industry. The next ISE, once again to be held in the Catalan capital, is scheduled for February 2 to 5, 2027.
