(eap) The cruise line Norwegian Cruise Line® (NCL) has recently opened the first enhancements for guests on its private Bahamian island Great Stirrup Cay, which had been announced last year. While the Great Tides Waterpark featuring 19 water slides on its “Tidal Tower” is not scheduled to open until next summer, visitors can already now enjoy the “Great Life Lagoon”: a pool area covering around 5,700 square metres featuring heated pools, a children’s splash area (“Splash Harbor”), two swim-up bars and private cabanas.

The primarily family-oriented offering is complemented by the new, fee-based adults-only area “Vibe Shore Club”, where adult guests can find a secluded retreat with a private bar and private cabanas. A new pier and an associated welcome centre are intended to make access to the island easier for guests.

As part of the expansion, Norwegian Cruise Line expects to welcome more than one million guests with a total of 17 ships to Great Stirrup Cay in 2026. This will include Norwegian Aqua®, which is offering Caribbean itineraries with island calls with immediate effect through October 2027, as well as the brand-new Norwegian Luna, which is scheduled to enter service for the first time in March 2026 and will also operate Caribbean routes from April to October 2026. ■
