(eap) The wait is over: SkyLoop in Mardorf at Steinhuder Meer in Germany’s Hanover Region is welcoming its first guests today. The approximately 40-metre-high, arch-shaped attraction and observation structure features an accessible viewing platform as well as several attractions, including an 85-metre-long stainless-steel tube slide, a zipline, a Giant Swing, a 30-metre Basejump and a so-called “SkyTrail” via ferrata. Construction work on the attraction structure has been underway since the end of January. The investment volume amounts to around four million euros.

The long tube slide is likely to prove particularly popular with families with children. It starts at a height of 34 metres and is ridden using mats. A traffic-light system provides additional operational safety, as riders can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. The slide was supplied by Döbeln-based manufacturer atlantics.

Alongside its striking architecture, the landscaping is another distinctive feature of SkyLoop: around 165 square metres of trellis structures and approximately 60 linear metres of planters are intended to help the structure blend more closely into its surroundings over time. Engineering and creative consultancy Bergwind was responsible for the visualisations, while the attraction concept was developed by Allgäu-based company hochkant. The project owner and operator is the SchattenSpringer GmbH, which expects up to 140,000 visitors per year in the long term.

“With SkyLoop, we are creating a place that brings people together and gives them new perspectives – both literally and figuratively,” emphasises Christoph Brand, Managing Director of SchattenSpringer. “It was important to us to develop an experience that fits the region: close to nature, open to different target groups and offering moments that will be remembered.” ■
