New Slide Hiking Trail Being Built in Tyrol
(eap) In Ehrwald at the foot of the Zugspitze (Tyrol, Austria), the first three of a total of six stainless-steel slides were installed on a slope last week with the help of a helicopter. The holiday destination, which is popular with families and is frequented by skiers in winter, aims to expand its summer offering from spring 2026 with a new slide hiking trail and a bike trail.

The future slide trail will comprise a total slide length of 170 meters and will offer a selection of different slide types from German manufacturer Josef Wiegand: a 36-meter tube slide, a 31-meter trough slide with Makrolon covering, a 21-meter open trough slide, a 27-meter tube wave slide, a 28-meter racer with two tubes, and a 27-meter open family racer wave slide.
The new offer is intended to increase the use of a lift that has so far been less frequented. For the descents, visitors can rent felt mats for a small fee and then use the slides as often as they like throughout the day. ■
