(eap) The Erlebnisbad Ainring adventure pool in southern Germany, which has been offering outdoor swimming fun for the whole family since 1967, has kicked-off this year’s outdoor swimming season with a new water slide. The Aquarena combination slide, which is over 100 meters long, combines open and closed sections and has been equipped with daylight effects and a transparent “CrystalTube” element. A sensor-controlled traffic light system and integrated time measurement are designed to ensure safety and additional fun. A total of around half a million euros was invested in the new slide and the renovation of an existing diving tower.

During the inauguration of the new slide, the former mayor of Ainring Johann Waldhutter explained how the adventure pool had once been developed: “The swimming pool at the time was already 28 years old. The aluminium pools were leaking. It was not an easy decision to build a new one. But it was clear to us: if we were going to build something, we wanted to build something worthwhile.” The planning took four years, the pool was completely renovated within ten months from August 1994 to June 1995. He is delighted that a new slide has been added to the pool after 30 years: “It’s simply an attraction. We have many facilities in the municipality that are only for some of the citizens. But everyone can use the adventure pool, from the very young to the very old.”

Martin Öttl, Mayor of the municipality today, added: “This slide is a symbol of our commitment to constantly improving the leisure facilities in Ainring. I am delighted that we have been able to get this great attraction off the ground together and wish everyone lots of fun on the slide!” ■
