Oberstdorf Thermal Spa to Open Soon

(eap) In the Bavarian town of Oberstdorf, work is progressing on the new replacement building for the former thermal spa. Following the closure of the previous spa in 2018 – after 47 years of operation – the new Therme Oberstdorf is set to open in late 2025.

The new building will comprise a bathing and thermal spa world of around 2,000 square meters with several swimming and recreational pools, which together will comprise a water surface of around 450 square meters. The offer will be supplemented by a sauna, spa and wellness zone of around 3,000 square meters. This will include five themed saunas, various relaxation areas, a fireplace room, a sauna garden and an infinity pool. A separate spa and sauna restaurant is also planned.

The net investment volume of the project reaches around 45 million euros, of which the Free State of Bavaria is contributing subsidies amounting to 11.7 million euros. The client is Markt Oberstdorf, represented by Kurbetriebe Oberstdorf, which will also be responsible for operating the facility in the future. GMF GmbH has been engaged to provide operational consulting services. Project management is in the hands of Hitzler Ingenieure and object management of Auer Weber Architekten. The technical implementation is being carried out by various specialist companies: Wassertechnik Wertheim is supplying the water technology, Zeller Bäderbau is responsible for the infinity pool and the diving pool, Devine Wellness-Anlagenbau is in charge of the sauna construction and entervo-access is implementing the access system. ■
