Opening of the New Therme Oberstdorf

(eap) With an opening ceremony on January 16, the new Therme Oberstdorf has officially commenced operations. A total of 2,000 square meters of thermal spa world including 450 square meters of water surface area, as well as some additional 3,000 square meters of sauna and wellness facilities, are now available to those seeking relaxation in the Bavarian town of Oberstdorf.

“The new thermal spa is a flagship for Oberstdorf and a year-round, all-weather offering for both visitors and residents,” emphasized Mayor Klaus King. In addition to its touristic appeal, King also highlighted its social value: swimming programs for children, training opportunities for clubs, and around 50 newly created jobs.

Approximately 42 million euros were invested in the construction of the new thermal spa, which blends harmoniously into the facility’s surroundings thanks to a distinctive architecture and construction style. Large glass façades and natural materials characterize the appearance of the complex. The unobstructed view of the Allgäu Alps was deliberately designed as an integral part of the concept. Among the highlights is also the outdoor area with an infinity pool and panoramic saunas. Design details such as a color scheme inspired by alpine lakes, interiors influenced by Allgäu flower meadows, and an Oberstdorf starry sky in the steam bath are intended to create0 a close connection to the region and its elements.

“We define ourselves through exceptional quality, architectural aesthetics, and a well-balanced offering for our guests who are seeking genuine relaxation. Through a consistently implemented concept based on the four elements, we are creating a unique selling point and space for extraordinary experiences,” says Max Feldengut, operations manager of the thermal spa.

The new pool complex is now in a soft opening phase, before full regular operations are scheduled to start in early February. ■
