(eap) The two European manufacturers Intamin Amusement Rides and ETF Ride Systems, which have belonged to the same corporate group since summer 2024 (cf. EAP News of 11 July 2024), are introducing a joint new development to the attractions and ride market: the “Multi Dimension Mover”, a hybrid dark ride system that combines the agility of a trackless vehicle (ETF) with launch accelerations and multi-dimension elements known from Intamin’s coaster types. According to the companies, the new vehicle is intended to enable operators to implement dynamic themed rides within a small footprint.

Among the features of the Multi Dimension Mover – consisting of a chassis with a mounted cabin – are its capability for omni-directional movements and unlimited rotations. Both the vehicle itself and the cabin can rotate independently at speeds of up to 10 rpm. When both modules rotate together, they achieve a combined rotation speed of up to 20 rpm. These technical (multi-dimension) characteristics are said to provide space for a wide range of possible ride manoeuvres such as drifting. Optionally, the cabin can also be equipped with a “Tilt & Roll” mechanism, enabling it to lift and lower by up to eight degrees.
In possible launch sections along the route – invisible due to the absence of rails – the vehicles can reach speeds of up to 36 km/h, which, according to the two companies, is up to seven times faster than other trackless dark ride systems currently available on the market. The vehicles themselves are capable of accelerations up to 1.5 m/s². ETF’s trackless ride system is said to allow for flexible, space-saving layouts, which in turn reduce investment costs for infrastructure and installation of the Multi Dimension Mover. At the same time, the layout can be altered at any time, requiring only minor adjustments. The vehicles are powered by an onboard supercapacitor and battery storage system.
Optionally, the individual vehicles can be equipped with interactive elements such as shooters, pointers or buttons, allowing guests to trigger various effects or collect points during the ride experience. ■
