(eap) The US theme park Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, has announced a partnership with the non-profit organisation Project Purple as part of the promotion for its new coaster planned for 2027. Founded in 2010, the organisation is dedicated to raising awareness of pancreatic cancer and supports both research projects and patient programmes.
The eagerly anticipated coaster project, currently publicly known by the codename “Project Purple”, is set to gain further importance as more than just a new major attraction as part of the collaboration. Until 1 June 2027, Six Flags Great Adventure aims to work with Project Purple to draw attention to the organisation’s work and create opportunities for awareness, fundraising and community engagement.

Construction work on the new coaster, which is being supplied by German manufacturer Mack Rides, is already visibly progressing in the park’s Boardwalk area. The attraction is expected to rank among the tallest coasters in the world and to be realised as a record-breaking multi-launch experience.
“We’re excited to partner with Project Purple and use the visibility of this incredible new attraction to help shine a light on an important cause,” said park president Mike Fehnel. “This partnership is especially meaningful to me personally, having lost my father to pancreatic cancer. It’s a disease that impacts far too many families, including mine. As Project Purple rises on our skyline, we have an opportunity to raise awareness, inspire support and create a meaningful connection between unforgettable experiences and real impact.”
Visitors to Six Flags Great Adventure are expected to see Project Purple signage throughout the park in future. QR codes will allow them to learn more about the organisation, its mission and ways to support research and patient care. Further fundraising initiatives, special events and milestones connected with the partnership are set to follow during the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

“We are honoured to partner with Six Flags Great Adventure and be part of such an exciting and visible project,” said Dino Verrelli, CEO of Project Purple. “This collaboration helps us bring our mission to new audiences and reminds people that awareness can happen in powerful and unexpected places.”
Before the new coaster with its distinctive purple track is scheduled to open next year, visitors to Six Flags Great Adventure can already look forward this season to the opening of the redesigned “Shoreline Pier at the Boardwalk” area with new attractions (see EAP news of 14 Apr 2026). ■
