As Walt Disney Parks and Resorts recently announced, Samuel Lau (pictured) has taken over the position of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s (HKDL) new Managing Director, effective immediately. Lau succeeds Andrew Kam, who resigned for personal reasons after having led the resort for eight years. In his new position, Lau is responsible for managing the daily operations of HKDL and to drive the resort’s further development, especially with regard to the novelties announced for this and the next year (cf. EAP News from February 23, 2016).

“We are grateful to Andrew for his leadership of HKDL over the past eight years,” Bill Ernest, President and Managing Director, Asia, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, says. Referring to the change in leadership, he adds: “We are excited about the business developments at HKDL. With his proven track record in driving business excellence, Sam will provide leadership for the continuous development of the resort, leveraging the opportunities of the new offerings based on strong Disney franchises.”

Lau started his Disney career in 2010 when he joined Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as Vice President, Transportation. Four years later, he was promoted to Vice President of Epcot, one of the theme parks belonging to the Walt Disney World Resort complex. Lau then took the position of Vice President, New Program Development, Asia (Disneyland International). Prior to his appointment as HKDL’s new Managing Director, he most recently served as the resort’s Vice President, Operations. (eap)
