Shanghai Disneyland: Groundbreaking for Spider-Man Themed Land
The milestone was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony joined by leaders from Shanghai Disney Resort, Walt Disney Imagineering Shanghai, Shanghai Shendi Group, and the Administrative Commission of Shanghai International Resort.

(eap) On today’s “China Tourism Day”, Shanghai Disney Resort has set an example for further growth and new guest experiences: A groundbreaking ceremony officially kicked off the construction of a new “Spider-Man”-themed area – the third major expansion since opening in 2016. At the same time, the park announced a series of new Pixar-based experiences for June.

The new Spider-Man zone is being built right next to the “Zootopia” area, which opened in 2023 – it will be the ninth themed world at Shanghai Disneyland. The centerpiece will be an attraction based around the popular Marvel character Spider-Man – an action-packed thrill coaster flanked by stores, restaurants and entertainment experiences. The project was first unveiled at the D23 Expo in August 2024.

At the same time, guests can look forward to a variety of Pixar offerings from June 3rd: with characters such as “Carl Fredricksen” (Up), “Bing Bong” (Inside Out) and “Edna Mode” (The Incredibles), three popular characters will be celebrating their debut in Shanghai Disneyland – including as part of an exclusive show on the “E-Stage” and at Meet & Greets in the park until June 19.

Pixar is also making its gastronomic appearance: The “Stargazer Grill” in “Tomorrowland” reopens its doors on June 3 as a redesigned Pixar restaurant. The “Stargazer Grill Pixar Celebration” combines Pixar design with Pixar-inspired cuisine – including, for example, a spicy chicken burger inspired by the character “Anger” from “Inside Out”. ■
