Six Flags Reports Changes in Its Board Governance

Selim Bassoul

(eap) The Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced today that Executive Chairman Selim Bassoul (pictured) and Daniel J. Hanrahan, Lead Independent Director, will retire from the board of directors of the US-based operator group on December 31, 2025. Following their departure from the board, the board of directors will consist of ten directors. Marilyn Spiegel, who has been a member of the board since 2023, will assume the position of Non-Executive Chair of the Board effective January 1, 2026.

“Leading the Six Flags Board of Directors through a period of transformation has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said Bassoul. He continued, “Together, we built a stronger, more innovative company – one that successfully completed the industry’s largest merger, expanded its growth opportunities, and refined the guest experience through technology and creativity. I am especially proud that Six Flags has been recognized as one of the best and brightest companies to work for nationwide – proof of our exceptional culture and the dedication of our people.”

Selim Bassoul, who has served as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors since the merger of Cedar Fair and Six Flags last year, will continue to support the company as an advisor after his departure. This is to ensure that the completion of the Six Flags Qiddiya City theme park currently under construction in Saudi Arabia runs smoothly. The new theme park is expected to open in the first half of 2026. ■
