(eap) Visitors to the LEGOLAND® Florida Resort can now embark on a galactic adventure: Last Friday, the new “Galacticoaster”, a family coaster by German manufacturer ART Engineering, was officially put into operation.

The space experience begins the attraction’s queue area: In the so-called “Briefing Room”, an animatronic – Chief Engineer “Big Dipper” – welcomes guests and introduces the storyline. The journey then continues in the “Customization Bay”, where visitors can use touchscreens to assemble digital LEGO® spacecraft from a total of 625 possible combinations. These individual designs are integrated into the roller coaster ride via an RFID wristband. Four “galaxy explorers” are seated per vehicle. The ride features several turns and acceleration sections, reaching speeds of up to 64 km/h. Children may ride from a height of 36 inches (approx. 90 cm) when accompanied, or from 48 inches (120 cm) unaccompanied.

Complementing the coaster, the “Junior Astronaut Training Zone”, a LEGO Duplo play area, has been created for the youngest guests (aged one to four). In addition, the “Orbital Outpost” merchandise shop and a themed F&B offer are available.

Fiona Eastwood, CEO of the park’s operator group Merlin Entertainments, explains that LEGO Galaxy is “more than a new attraction. It’s an immersive world where kids take the lead in building their own adventure. By combining the power of imagination with the excitement of space exploration, we’ve created an experience designed to inspire the next generation of creators, explorers, and dreamers.”

Park President Brian Bacica emphasises: “I’m incredibly proud to introduce our guests to LEGO Galaxy and I can’t wait for them to experience Galacticoaster, which is a first of its kind for any LEGOLAND Park. Our dedicated team has put so much passion and creativity into this project that has been three years of planning, building, testing and dreaming. It’s my honor to share this stellar experience with our guests today!”

Following the opening in Florida, LEGO Galaxy – and thus another Galacticoaster – is scheduled to debut at the LEGOLAND® California Resort on March 6 this week. ■
