UK: Folly Farm Adventure Park Plans to Open Holiday Village

The Welsh Folly Farm Adventure Park zoo and theme park recently announced its plans to build an own holiday village to offer accommodation for visitors. Its design should feature the three differentially themed areas “safari”, “fairground” and “farm” and should count more than 56 lodges, touring caravans and so-called “glamping” facilities, which combine real outdoor feeling with a hotel’s comfort. Furthermore, the park’s already existing farm buildings should be regenerated into a café, games rooms and a reception area – on a total site of eleven hectare. The scheduled investment volume for the new holiday village is approx. ten million British pounds (approx. twelve million Euro). “By bringing another dimension to our offer, we aim to extend our trading seasons beyond the traditional May to September window. Our accommodation will attract new tourists to the area and provide an option to stay with us outside of the summer season, for long weekends and during half-term holidays […],” said Park Director Chris Ebsworth. Construction works are scheduled to begin in September this year, provided that local authorities grant approval – the park hopes to welcome its first overnight guests on the holiday village’s caravan site in summer 2017.
