USA: Crystal Lagoons Island Resort in Arizona to Feature Mattel Adventure Park

Last fall, the city of Glendale in the US state of Arizona announced the development of a new sports and entertainment complex called “Crystal Lagoons Island Resort”, which will include a nearly 4.5-hectare large artificial lagoon developed by Crystal Lagoons (cf. EAP news of 17 Sept 2020). Last week, the groundbreaking ceremony for the tourism project took place, in the course of which the construction of a Mattel Adventure Park™ within the mixed-use complex was announced. Branded attractions and experiences from US toy manufacturer Mattel, such as a “Hot Wheels®” roller coaster and multiple go-kart experiences, a “Thomas & Friends™” indoor theme park featuring the first life-sized “Thomas the Tank Engine”-electric battery powered passenger train, immersive branded dining, experiential retail, and more, will be part of the park’s offerings.

“A passion for innovation and excellence has driven the design of our venue. Mattel shares our vision and sets the platinum standard for the concept of play. We are thrilled to create the country’s first Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale,” said Mark Cornell, President of Attractions & Entertainment for Crystal Lagoons Island Resort.

In addition to the Mattel theme park and man-made lagoon, hotel, restaurants, and entertainment brands will complement the resort, with more details to be announced in the coming weeks. A detailed report on the Crystal Lagoons concept can be found in EAP issue 6/09. (eap)
