USA: Kentucky’s Beech Bend Park Announces Waterpark Expansion

Recently, the amusement park Beech Bend Park, located in the US state of Kentucky, has given notice of its intention to open four new ProSlide waterslides in its waterpark in June this year. The multi-million US dollar expansion includes the 150-meter long FlyingSAUCER ride “Cyclone Saucers”. Featuring three “flying saucer” elements, an approximately 17-meter elevation change and high speeds, the slide will offer a unique ride experience. According to Beech Bend Park, Cyclone Saucers will be the first installation of its kind in North America. In summer 2015, Spain’s Siam Park, situated on the island of Tenerife, opened the world’s first FlyingSAUCER slide (cf. EAP, issue 5/2015).

Apart from Cylone Saucers, Beech Bend Park will also introduce the bowl slide “Polynesian Plunge” as well as the attractions “Tidal Wave” and “Riptide” in June. All four slides are being custom-designed by ProSlide. As the family-owned park states, the expansion will create 25 additional jobs. Currently, about 300 people are employed at the amusement park per season. Beech Bend Park is part of a large entertainment complex that also includes Beech Bend Raceway and Beech Bend Campground.
