Wilderness Resort Modernises WaterDome in Wisconsin Dells

The new volcano-themed „Volcano Vortex“ water slide is set to become part of the renovated Wild WaterDome.

(eap) Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells, US, – the “Waterpark Capital of the World” – has announced the modernisation of its “Wild WaterDome” waterpark. From 24 August, the more than 6,500-square-metre (70,000-square-foot) waterpark is set to undergo extensive renovation measures. In addition to a new transparent roof and optimisations to the theming and food & beverage areas, the park will receive a new waterslide as well as a revamped children’s area.

“We’ve made a lot of updates to our resort and other waterparks over the last decade and now it is time to give the WaterDome a refresh as well,” emphasises Joe Eck, Chief Operating Officer of Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks.

As part of the project, one of the two Dueling Mammoths raft slides will be removed to make room for a new volcano-themed waterslide called “Volcano Vortex”. This will be a five-person raft slide featuring a “HIVE™” element from Canadian manufacturer ProSlide. The remaining Mammoth slide is planned to be renamed “Paradise Falls”. “We’re super excited to be adding the Volcano Vortex thrill ride! It will propel guests in five-person rafts through high-speed turns and high-G spirals creating the sensation that the ride is revolving around them,” adds Eck.

In addition, the existing zero-depth children’s area “Mini Mammoth’s Cove” will be revamped for the youngest guests – with a mix of slides and tropical-themed interactive play areas intended to encourage discovery and exploration while also providing clear sight lines for parents. The area featuring a "RideHOUSE" play structure from ProSlide will be renamed "Coral Cove", in keeping with the new tropical theme.

The WaterDome’s iconic wave pool is to remain unchanged. However, the entire waterpark will receive new flooring and a tropical paint scheme. The adjacent food & beverage outlets of the waterpark are also to be refreshed. The reopening of the WaterDome is expected for mid-October. ■
