Japan: Oriental Land Company Announces New “Toy Story” Hotel for Tokyo Disney Resort

Oriental Land Company, Disney licensee and owner of Tokyo Disney Resort, yesterday announced its plans to open a new theme hotel by 2021 fiscal year, complementing the two existing Disney theme parks and four hotels of the resort.

The group plans to develop a family-friendly, affordable theme hotel based on the Disney·Pixar “Toy Story” films so that everything looks like it is made of toys. In addition to around 600 themed rooms on eleven floors, the hotel building – which is set to cover a total area of some 40,000 square meters – will comprise a restaurant and a merchandise shop. The scheduled investment for the still unnamed hotel amounts to just under 245 million Euros (around 31.5 billion Yen). (eap)
