“Dragon Festival”: Winter Program at Magic Park Verden
(eap) Dragons are on the loose at Germany’s Magic Park Verden: as part of its special “Zauberhafte Winterzeit” (Engl.: “Enchanting Wintertime”) opening, the park is hosting the so-called “Dragon Festival” this year, during which visitors can discover 20 large dragon animatronics throughout the park – with lighting, sound and fog effects, the mythical creatures become part of the park’s winter-themed setting. For the special winter offer Magic Park is cooperating with the German company World of Lights. The park is open daily from 23 January through 15 February.

Also, part of the winter opening is the “Magical Light Forest”, which is intended to create a cozy winter atmosphere with atmospheric lighting, decorative elements and fire bowls. While adults can enjoy the special ambience, children are able to use a large proportion of the attractions and explore the park – only the roller coaster and log flume remain closed due to weather conditions. In addition, free mulled wine and children’s punch are included in the admission price during the winter opening.
The Dragon Festival is an example of special off-season offerings with which amusement parks can deliberately extend their operating periods and generate additional visitor impulses outside the main season. Alongside the Dragon Festival, the winter opening features further changing activities. The intention is to establish Magic Park as an attractive destination for families in the region even outside the main season and to make a park visit during the cold season an attractive experience. ■
