(eap) Starting tomorrow, guests at BillyBird® Park Drakenrijk in the Dutch town of Beesel (Province of Limburg, close to the German border) will be able to explore the new “Drakendorp” for the first time. The indoor playground, covering more than 2,200 square metres, expands the park’s family offering with a weather-independent experience. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for 1 February.

Guests enter the new play area through an imposing medieval gate. At its centre is an interactive scenario: a village has caught fire as a result of a dragon’s flames and awaits rescue. Using water cannons, children can extinguish the fire together with their parents. Projection screens installed in the windows of the village façades simulate the flames and bring the experience to life.
In addition, Drakendorp offers a wide range of play attractions, including a family slide, a ball pit with video screen, XXL building blocks and a large climbing and play structure. A separate area has been created for children aged zero to three, where the youngest can play safely and make their first discoveries under the supervision of their parents. Parents, in turn, can relax on a spacious indoor terrace, where snacks and drinks can be enjoyed while keeping an eye on their children at play. In good weather, an outdoor terrace is also open to guests.
BillyBird operates a total of three locations in the Netherlands. In addition to the park in Beesel, the portfolio includes BillyBird® Park Hemelrijk in Volkel, offering a comparable concept. Further west, in Drunen, the operator also runs the outdoor swimming pool BillyBird® Openluchtzwembad Het Run. ■
