(eap) Last year, the French science and theme park Vulcania welcomed around 390,000 visitors. For the upcoming season, the park has planned to expand its offering with several new features, including the immersive attraction “Expédition Hawaï”, which is scheduled to open in June. The interactive experience will take visitors on a journey to the Hawaiian Islands, specifically to the Kilauea volcano. Following in the footsteps of the renowned volcanologist couple Krafft (†1991) – whose commitment led to the founding of the theme park located in the Regional Natural Park Volcans d’Auvergne in 2002 – guests experience the fascinating natural force of an erupting volcano. “Volcanologist Lila” will accompany visitors throughout the adventure, providing insights into volcanic processes.

A mix of interactive technology, multi-media and special effects, scientifically sound information, and emotions make the attraction a special experience. The project partner is 5motion, a company founded in 2020 by François-Xavier Aubague and specializing in the development of immersive experiences and media productions. In the previous season, the company was involved in “Mission Bermudes” at Futuroscope (see EAP 5/2025), among other projects.

In addition to the new attraction, visitors to Vulcania will also be able to enjoy a new film program in the park’s own planetarium this year, as well as experience a new evening show presented on selected dates. ■
