(eap) Following a comprehensive overhaul, the simulation attraction “Terre en Colère” has reopened at Vulcania, the French edutainment park in the Auvergne region focusing on volcanism and natural phenomena. The redesigned version of the ride is intended to offer visitors a more dynamic and interactive experience of natural phenomena, with updated theming and content reflecting current challenges relating to climate change. A revised storyline, new technology, a newly themed queue line and an interactive pre-show area are giving the visitor experience a fresh touch. The Belgian company BoldMove Nation was responsible for the redesign of the attraction in collaboration with Amak Productions and Production Pirates.

The journey begins in a completely redesigned queue that brings the warm and chaotic universe of “Matt the Explorer”, one of Vulcania’s mascot characters, to life. Barriers have been deliberately omitted so that guests can move freely through the rooms with props, puzzles and scientific clues. Special attention was paid to the visitor flow: as the main show lasts several minutes, guests spend more time in the waiting area. This time was turned into a storytelling opportunity with ten minutes of original media content, spoken by French influencers, podcasters and theme park fans. Added to this are props, decoration objects, whiteboards and mini games designed to deepen the immersive experience and invite replay.

Before entering the main theater, guests vote on six natural phenomena – from storms to volcanic eruptions – in the interactive preshow area. The three most voted scenarios then determine the show. At the heart of the attraction, wind, water and light effects bring the forces of the earth to life. In some scenes, multiple effects are activated simultaneously – such as gusts of wind and bursts of hot air – to complement the motion simulation and cinematic storytelling. ■
