(eap) The New Zealand amusement park Rainbow’s End has recently opened its latest attraction: with “Pacifica – The Pirate Ship”, a true classic returns to the park in a modernized form. The new large swinging ship of the “Pirate Ship” type was manufactured by German company Huss Park Attractions and swings its passengers up to heights of 19 meters. Up to 50 guests can ride per cycle – ride is permitted for visitors with a minimum body height of 1.20 meters, or 1.10 meters when accompanied by an adult.

With this new addition, the park continues its own history: as early as 1983, one year after the park’s opening, a Pirate Ship was put into operation, which had to be retired in 2017 due to the scarcity of replacements parts. The new attraction picks up the original theme and brings back to life the character “Captain Esmerelda”, known from the former ride, in a modernized design.

“Pacifica has been nearly three years in the making, and it has been a project filled with passion and excitement. [...] We feel privileged to be bringing a new ship home. We’re looking forward to fans of the original Pirate Ship being swept up in a wave of nostalgia, while younger thrill seekers get the chance to sail the seas in this new and improved version,” said Susan Mudie, CEO of Rainbow’s End. ■
