“SkyLoop” to Bring Adventure to Germany’s Steinhuder Meer
(eap) Lake Steinhuder Meer, one of the largest lakes in northwestern Germany, is set to gain a new tourism attraction: In the recreational village of Mardorf on the northern shore of Lake Steinhude, the “SkyLoop” is currently taking shape – a 40-metre-high observation and event arch that is scheduled to open this summer and offer visitors a mix of viewpoints, movement and adventure.

In addition to a panorama viewing platform overlooking Lake Steinhuder Meer, the attraction is planned to feature a via ferrata along the arch, a tube slide, a tandem swing with 34-metre-long ropes, as well as a base jump and a zip line for descending from great heights. The way to the top will be possible both actively via 250 steps and barrier-free by elevator. The unusual leisure project will be operated by the Bielefeld-based company SchattenSpringer, which operates climbing parks and high ropes courses throughout Germany. The architectural visualizations were created by Bergwind Ingenieur- und Kreativgesellschaft from Bavaria.
“With the SkyLoop, we are creating a place where people can experience something special together – surrounded by nature, with views, courage and emotion,” said Christoph Brand, founder and Managing Director of SchattenSpringer. “The new concept is more than a structure – it is a symbol of stepping beyond one’s own shadow. The SkyLoop is open to all generations – younger and older people, families, school classes and companies who want to dare something together and connect with one another. Thanks to barrier-free access by elevator, people with limited mobility can also fully enjoy the view and the experience.” ■
