Thomas Meyer Takes Over Safariland Stukenbrock

Thomas and Anni Meyer are the new owners and operators of Safariland Stukenbrock.

Safariland Stukenbrock, located in Senne near Bielefeld, Germany, is embarking on a new chapter under Thomas and Anni Meyer, who have taken over the animal and amusement park entirely from the family of Fritz Wurms, the park’s owner who passed away in 2019. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Fritz Wurms had taken over the park in 1984 from his parents, Robert and Hildegard Wurms, who had founded it in 1969.

Thomas Meyer, who hails from the Meyer-Steiger family of showmen in Bad Oeynhausen, is now, with his company Meyer Entertainment, one of the internationally active leisure entrepreneurs who have made clear business plans the foundation of their work (see EAP issue 1/2023).

And that is exactly how he wants to continue developing his new amusement park. “Unfortunately, the protracted takeover negotiations led to a backlog in investments, which we will now address directly through our planning,” Meyer told EAP. The goal now is not only to maintain the status quo, but also to build on novelties and innovations already underway and make the offerings more attractive. For example, combo packages that combine the resort’s lodging options with the animal experience are intended to attract additional guests to the park. But Thomas Meyer also plans to introduce new attractions step by step and has already revealed that his next step is to integrate “a new river adventure in the ‘Adventure Jungle’ featuring a water ride.” “We want to renovate and modernize,” says Thomas Meyer, who, as he emphasizes, places great importance on quality and safety. The master plans are being drawn up – a new chapter has begun at Safariland Stukenbrock, and there will be more to report on this soon. ■
