AI-Based Ride Monitoring Honoured with the German Excellence Award

(eap) The AI-based system “DMT RideGuard”, developed for condition monitoring of rides in amusement parks, has been honoured with the “German Excellence Award 2026”. The monitoring solution developed by DMT, a company of the TÜV Nord Group, received the award in the category “Digital Solutions & AI”. The award is presented by the German Institute for Service Quality in cooperation with DUP Entrepreneur Magazine (G.: “DUP Unternehmer-Magazin”) and is intended to honour companies that achieve measurable impact with innovative products and services.

For the eighth edition of the annual award, applications were received from more than 100 companies, start-ups, and organisations. The selection of the award winners was carried out in a multi-stage process by an independent jury from business, academia, and the media. Particular emphasis was placed on the degree of innovation, benefits, and practical relevance of the submitted solutions.

With DMT RideGuard, DMT offers an innovative AI-based system for monitoring rides. Sensors continuously record vibration and motion data during operation, which are automatically analysed using AI algorithms. This enables deviations to be detected at an early stage, maintenance measures to be planned in a targeted manner, and operational safety to be sustainably increased (read more in our open EAP topic special on AI tools for the leisure industry).

“The award confirms our approach of deploying modern AI technologies precisely where they create real added value,” said Dr Maik Tiedemann, CEO of DMT and the TÜV Nord business unit Energy & Resources. “Especially for safety-relevant installations such as rides, it is crucial to use data intelligently in order to meaningfully connect operations, maintenance, and safety. For us, the German Excellence Award is recognition of our team’s work and a strong signal of the importance of data-driven systems in technical monitoring.”

DMT RideGuard is already in use, among others, at Movie Park Germany and Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen, and can be combined with the digital maintenance management software of the Danish provider Mobaro (cf. EAP News of 8 Sept 2025) to further optimise operational processes. ■
