Austria: Eurothermen Set New Turnover Record

This year, Austria’s OÖ. Thermenholding, which is operating the three thermal spa facilities in Bad Hall, Bad Ischl and Bad Schallerbach, celebrates its 10th anniversary. Additionally, the company can praise itself with a new turnover record of 56.8 million euro in the financial year of 2014. Compared to 2005 with a turnover of 27.7 million euro, the company could more than double its turnover. Thermal spa facility admissions increased by more than 50 percent to 1.45 million guests could be recorded for and jobs could be increased from 560 to more than 850 in 2014. These developments also have a positive impact on the overnight guest occupancy in the accommodation facilities at the Eurothermen locations: in a ten-year-comparison, this rate increased by 14 percent to one million overnight stays per year. According to chairman governor Dr. Josef Pühringer, Eurothermen have caused a total economic activity of around 1.5 billion euro in the last ten years. Moreover, a unique new sauna experience world on three floors is currently being planned for the Bad Schallerbach facility as CEO Markus Achleitner reveals. Around eleven million euros will be invested in the expansion.

As announced by the market research institute meinungsraum.at, the thermal spa facility in Bad Schallerbach was recently voted “Best Thermal Spa Facility of 2015” in an online survey with 4.862 participants. (eap)
