Bayern-Park Lets Children Become Junior Ride Operators
As part of “Gschaftlertag”, young park guests got to step into the role of ride operators and, for example, help check the safety bars.
(eap) Bayern-Park in Reisbach, Lower Bavaria, came up with a special event in its 35th anniversary year: Last weekend, children were able to take a look behind the scenes of park operations during the so-called “Gschaftlertag” and step into the role of ride operators themselves.
The park had already launched the application phase for the exclusive event for season pass holders in May. The aim was to give young guests insights into the processes at the rides and offer them the opportunity to help supervise selected attractions together with experienced operators. At a total of ten rides, the children were allowed, among other things, to check safety restraints, point out safety rules and start the rides.
Pressing the start button was the children's clear favorite.
A total of 20 children were drawn from all entries and divided into two groups. Their places of assignment included the two roller coasters “FirleFranz” and “Raupenachterbahn”, the freefall tower “Voltrum” and the large swing ride “HehnaHutschn”. Before starting their assignments, all children received a detailed briefing on the procedures and safety requirements. To make them recognisable as junior operators, each child also received their own Gschaftler T-shirt.
Due to the positive response, the event is set to become a permanent part of the offering for young regular guests at Bayern-Park in future. At the same time, the format is also likely to help strengthen families’ ties to the park – and perhaps inspire one or two children at an early age to consider a future career in the leisure industry. ■
