Under the title “DEEP STORY – A Complete Guide to Creating Transformational Visitor Attractions”, Rogers provides insights into the principles and methods that underpin his work. He draws on a career that once began as a magician at the “Magic Shop” at Disneyland. In 1981, he founded BRC, which has since created visitor experiences for brands, museums, cultural organizations and major international events. Rogers himself has received, among other distinctions, the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Themed Entertainment Association and has been inducted into the “IAAPA Hall of Fame”.
In Deep Story, Rogers brings together experience and insights gained over several decades of creative work, creating a comprehensive collection of tools, principles and approaches to effective storytelling. One of the book’s particular strengths is the way Rogers reframes proven concepts, highlights connections and combines his own experience with established methods to form a coherent overall picture. In doing so, he brings familiar ideas back to mind while also explaining approaches that may be less familiar to readers so clearly that the book repeatedly prompts an “aha moment”.
The result is a practical toolkit for creatives, experience designers, project teams and anyone seeking to develop experiences that go beyond simply informing or entertaining visitors and instead aim to make an impact on them.
