Destination KCK with Mattel Adventure Park Coming to Kansas

(eap) Epic Resort Destinations recently announced that Destination KCK, a new entertainment destination, is coming to Bonner Springs, Kansas (USA). The plans include accommodation, restaurants, stores, various attractions and a Mattel Adventure Park around a 12 acres (almost five hectares) lake. In total, the complex will cover more than 180 acres (over 70 hectares) and have eight themed areas with attractions for the whole family. These include a Fly & Dive Theater, boat rides, zip lines, a Christmas village with an ice-skating rink, six themed restaurants and 34 retail stores. And the mentioned Mattel Adventure Park, that, like the Mattel Park in Glendale, Arizona which is expected to open in late 2024 [Editor’s Note: Update on expected opening, previously 2025 was mentioned as expected opening year], will feature various brand-based attractions and experiences from toy manufacturer Mattel. These include the Hot Wheels™ coasters “Bone Shaker©: The Ultimate Ride” and “Twin Mill© Racer” as well as an XXL Barbie Beach House™ and a Barbie Flying Theatre.

“Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will bring our iconic brands to life with epic roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, an immersive theatre, themed dining, and so much more,” said Josh Silverman, Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel. “We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones.”

In addition to the various attractions, Destination KCK will offer a range of accommodation options. These include three different hotels with a total of over 500 rooms, 22,500 square feet (over 2,000 square meters) conference and 40,500 square feet (over 3,700 square meters) event space. Also, there will be 44,515 square feet (more than 4,000 square meters) of office space and two enclosed pavilions in the centre of the lake that can be used for corporate or family events. Furthermore, there will be a modern RV park with over 200 pitches, 59 cabin and glamping sites and an indoor/outdoor pool.

The leisure destination is scheduled to open in 2026, with plans to break ground later this year. ■
