Djurs Sommerland Announces Northern Europe’s First Hot Racer
(eap) Danish amusement park Djurs Sommerland has officially announced its new roller coaster for the coming year. After the park had already shared initial teasers about “Midgårdsormen”, it has now been confirmed that an Intamin “Hot Racer” coaster will be built under this name in “Vikingeland”. It will be Denmark’s first single-rail coaster and the second Hot Racer in Europe after “Mahuka” at Walibi Rhône-Alpes. With a height of 23 metres and a top speed of 75 km/h, the new attraction is also set to become the tallest and fastest Hot Racer in Europe.
The new roller coaster will be built on an expansion site of around 15,000 square metres and will feature a track length of 603 metres. Djurs Sommerland is investing more than DKK 100 million (approx. EUR 13.4 million) in what will be its tenth roller coaster. It will also be the park’s first coaster with inversions. Three inversions and two launch sections are set to provide a dynamic ride experience. The attraction is planned to operate with two trains, each seating nine passengers, giving it a capacity of around 650 guests per hour. The new coaster is expected to have a minimum height requirement of 120 centimetres.
In recent years, Djurs Sommerland has continuously expanded its attraction portfolio – most recently in “Mexicoland” with the adventure trail “Camino del Sol” (see EAP 3/2025) and the drop tower “El Grito” (see EAP 4/2024). In addition, the park is planning to open its own holiday resort in 2028. ■
