Duinrell Announces “Kikkerachtbaan 2.0”
(eap) The Dutch amusement and holiday park Duinrell is planning to open the new “Kikkerachtbaan” at the start of the 2026 season. The attraction will be a new family coaster that will replace the former ride of the same name. The theming of the coaster will draw on the sport of motocross, which was practiced on what is now the park’s grounds during the 1940s and 1950s. Accordingly, “Rick the Frog” will lead the roller coaster train on his own motorcycle.
Kikkerachtbaan 2.0 will be manufactured by the German company Zierer as a Custom Force Coaster. The track will be completely rebuilt while retaining its iconic double figure-eight layout. Set on a bright red track, the green train will travel 362 meters per ride, reaching a maximum height of twelve meters and a top speed of 47 km/h. The ride will be accessible to guests from a minimum height of one meter.
“It is something special to be able to bring a piece of history back to life in the form of a modern attraction. My great-grandfather organized car races at Duinrell at the time, which were the forerunners of the later motorcycle races,” says park owner Philip van Zuylen van Nijevelt. “The fact that this very nostalgic Kikkerachtbaan – the first roller coaster my father installed at Duinrell – is now receiving a theme so closely connected to our family history makes it particularly special.”
The new Kikkerachtbaan is expected to open in April 2026, when Duinrell begins its next season. Earlier this year, the leisure and holiday park located near The Hague celebrated its 90th anniversary and, to mark the occasion, among other things, reintroduced the “Duinrell Express”. ■
