Germany: KUKA Invests in Expansion of Augsburg Site

Germany’s robotics manufacturing company KUKA, which is part of Chinese Midea group of companies (cf. EAP news from October 10th, 2016), plans to invest more than 100 million Euro in the expansion and modernization of its Augsburg headquarters in Germany. The construction project includes a new two-level production hall, a training center, an office tower and a new parking garage with 1,000 spaces. The new buildings of the so-called “KUKA Campus” are to be completed successively by 2025 and will provide a room for a total of 1,600 workstations. Thanks to the investment, numerous job opportunities will be created in a modern working environment to further boost the company’s growth. “Our home location meets important prerequisites for our development. The participation in start-ups and partnerships with business and science represent key aspects here […],” notes Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG.

Furthermore, KUKA recently presented its interim report on the first half-year of 2017, according to which KUKA Group looks back on a successful second quarter with record orders of over one billion Euro. "[…] The worldwide demand for automation solutions ‘made by KUKA’ is high. […] We are expecting sales revenues of around 3.3 billion Euro and an EBIT margin of more than 5.5 percent. In order to boost our innovative strength, we shall continue to invest in key technologies for Industrie 4.0, such as human-robot collaboration, mobility and smart platforms,” added Dr. Reuter.
