Karls Pier7: A New Harbour for Strawberry Dreams

(eap) Karls has operated its Pier7 location at the cruise port in the Baltic Sea resort of Warnemünde (Rostock, Germany) for 21 years now. Here, Karls fans and visitors to the Baltic coast can relax, dine, shop or explore a sand sculpture exhibition. Business will continue as usual until 1 November, after which a new chapter will begin at the site with the construction of a new building. The modern development will feature a maritime design. Two large rooftop terraces will offer guests panoramic views of the Baltic Sea, while expansive windows and a transparent glass wall replacing the existing terrace fence will provide views of the harbour. According to regional media reports, around 5.5 million euros are being invested in the new building. Karls Pier7 will remain closed during construction, with the grand reopening planned for Easter 2027.

In the meantime, visitors can continue to enjoy strawberry-themed food, souvenirs and experiences at Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen, which is only around 30 minutes away by car. Rövershagen was the first Karls Erlebnis-Dorf in what has since grown into a network of eight locations. The first location in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Oberhausen, opened only recently (read more in our upcoming EAP issue 5/2026). Further locations are currently under development in Plech, Bavaria, Bispingen in Lower Saxony and Wernigerode in the Harz Mountains region. As a foretaste of the planned Wernigerode location, the temporary “Karls PopUp Festival”, featuring mobile attractions, launched in May this year and still runs up to September 3rd. ■
